Comprehensive Breast Lift Surgery in Denver

Our breast lift can be performed on its own or in combination with a breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast reconstruction, or fat transfer procedure. While other treatments address breast volume and shape, mastopexy is concerned with correcting sagging breasts and low-hanging nipples. After surgery, women experience a more positive self-image and enjoy a wider range of clothing options.

What is a Breast Lift?

Our breast lift in Denver, Parker, Lone Tree, and Centennial is performed to combat breast ptosis and elevate the nipples to a more youthful-looking location. When the breasts sag below the inframammary fold — typically caused by the aging process, pregnancy, nursing, oversized implants, or weight fluctuations — it can compromise the chest’s appearance, making it difficult for women to experience a natural fit in tops, swimwear, and lingerie.

  • Your breasts sag below the inframammary fold
  • Your breasts appear elongated or stretched
  • Your breasts appear asymmetrical
  • You are in good mental and physical health
  • You are a non-smoker, or are willing to quit before and after surgery
  • You have realistic expectations for your results

Incision Options

There are three common choices for incision placement with a breast lift. Your surgeon will select the best approach based on your degree of breast ptosis, scarring considerations, and your individual aesthetic goals. During your private consultation, our team will create a clearly mapped out treatment plan so you know exactly what to expect from your results.

The Anchor Lift

Here, the incision is created encircling the areola, stretching down to the breast crease, and then extending horizontally along the inframammary fold, resembling an upside-down “T” or anchor. This technique is well-suited for patients with significant breast ptosis and is often used in combination with a breast reduction procedure.

The Lollipop Lift

The incision for a lollipop lift encircles the nipple and then extends vertically down to the breast crease, resembling a child’s favorite sweet. There is less scarring than with a conventional anchor incision approach but a lollipop lift is better suited for patients with a moderate rather than significant amount of breast ptosis.

The Circumareolar Lift

The circumareolar breast lift involves an incision created in a circular pattern around the areola. This approach is ideal for patients with only minor breast sagging who have maintained good skin elasticity and who seek reshaping of the areolas. Scarring is well-hidden within the darker pigmentation of the central breast region.

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

Mastopexy typically takes 2-4 hours to complete and is performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation in our accredited onsite surgical theater. During surgery, your doctor will remove redundant skin folds to create a more youthful, perky breast appearance, choosing one of three incision patterns (anchor, lollipop, or circumareolar) based on your degree of breast sagging.

If the areolas are enlarged, excess skin at the perimeter can be excised. The nipples can also be relocated to a more flattering position at this time. Finally, the incisions are closed with fine sutures and the patient is placed in the recovery suite for careful monitoring until they can return home.

What Will My Recovery Entail?

Patients can go home the same day as their breast lift in Denver, as long as they are accompanied by a helper, friend, or family member who will assist them for the first 24-48 hours. Upon discharge, you will receive detailed aftercare instructions, a compression garment to help reduce swelling in the chest, and prescription pain medications to ensure your continued comfort. Our staff will be available and accessible during your recovery to answer any questions and address any concerns that may arise.

Most patients experience soreness and fatigue after surgery but can usually resume activities within the first week. Any type of strenuous exercise, lifting, or exertion should be avoided for 3-6 weeks or as recommended by the surgeon. Clients should wear a support bra without an underwire for this amount of time as well. Scars will appear pink and firm for the first six weeks but will gradually fade over time. We will continue to monitor your healing and ensure a stress-free recovery.
